Winter Plans
don't like the cold very much so I haven't been going outside or doing
many activities. However, once this semester is over, I will be going up to northern Michigan to visit a friend. She wants us to go snow-mobiling, sledding, and skiing. I am looking forward to visiting Mackinaw Island. It is famous for having delicious fudge. I haven't seen my friend in a long time, so I hope that we will have lots of time to talk. What do you do with your friends on breaks from school?

Food!
What's your favorite food? :-)
My fevolite fiid is crab meat, eggplants and umeboshi.
Do you know umeboshi? It's Japanese food and very sour! I always carry it to eat anywhere.
Eggplants is healthy and there are some ways of cooking. Today, I'm going to make a dinner and use eggplants♪
When I was a child, I went to the U.S. I ate various American foods and visited some interesting places! for example, the Universal Studio, Hally Wood, Las Vegas and so on. After travering the U.S, I thought I like Japanese food the best. (^^;)
Do you like Japanese food?
My favorite food
Now, In Japan is cold so I want to eat "NABE" very much.
Do you know "NABE"? This is very hot so good for winter. " NABE" is like a soup that is had many vegetables and chiken or pork. Most favotite taste of "NABE" is "Kimuchi". Kimuchi is food famouse of spicy in korian. I like spicy taste. so I love it. I often go to "NABE reataurant" with my friends". The restaurant name is "赤から”(Akakara). This NABE restaurant is not seen all of Japan. This reataurant is only Nagoya.
Please go to this reataurant when you come Nagoya.:-)
FOOD
I know you know some Japanese food, for example Sushi, Tempura and so on.
2 years before, An Ausutralian student visited my home to do homestay, and at that time,
she really loved Onigiri( triangled shape rice ball). She always maked triangle shape with her hands to explain onigiri... it was interesting!
Anyway, do you like Japanese food or if you like it, what's your favorite one?
Also, please tell me American traditional food because I don't know what exactly American food it is.
By the way, I'm really into ice cream and my favorite shop is Cold Storn Creamary(is the spelling correct?) from America!! Cold Storn are in Japan, too but they're far from my house, so I don't have any chances to eat in this shop so much... I'm sad...
Talk to you soon!

Hello everyone! This is Rhieley again. Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, it seems like Christmas and the New Years are coming up very fast. I have a lot of presents to buy this year. Many of my relatives have young children now that I am expected to buy presents for. I also have several friends and older relatives to buy for. This year I want to get my roommate a good present. In the past I have just given small things like candles. However, my roommate is returning to Japan at the end of this semester and I wanted to get her something nice that she will be able to use and appreciate. What are some of the best gifts that you have received?
Looking for Work
Recently I have been busy trying to find a job. I have been applying at the University for a job but I would rather work at clothing stores like Old Navy or The Gap right now. I am trying to get an internship for over the summer. Last summer I worked for Chrysler Financial, which is a part of the car company. This year, I am hoping to work for Del Sol. They have many awesome products that all change color. I think that it would be very interesting to work with them. Plus, I would hopefully get to leave the country. I was wondering, where is a popular place to work in Japan?

Popular Fashion
Today, we talked about fashion in this week's class.
I really want to know what do you think Japanese girls (or boys) fashion. Our teacher said Japanese girls fashion sometimes looks like prostitute, and I was really shocked to hear that.
Also, I'd appriciate if you tell me popular American fashion and popular fashion brand.
Sorry for this short blog message...
I'll write another message soon!
Fashion!!

thanksgiving
A lot of people have huge dinners with a lot of people, mostly family. My family usually just has a small, relaxed dinner. Everyone eats turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin or apple pie.
Thanksgiving, I think, is considered to be a holiday centered around eating and family. The day after Thanksgiving is called "black Friday". On black Friday women go out Christmas shopping and the men watch football games on TV.

Your First Date
Today, I learned about very interesting topic, the first dates.
In the class, our teacher gave us a survey about "where is the best place for a first date". ( she asked American)
Accoding this survey, 81% of American would love to go to a coffee house, and 70%/a walk in the park, 65%/the local diner,.... any other answers, brunch, live music, a musium, comedy club and so on. Would you like to go those↑place for your first date, or did you go there for your first date? I know "first dates" is kind of a personal thing, but I'm curious to know about it!
Most of my class mates said they would go to see movies, but how about you?
"Going to see movies" wasn't in the survey, but do you think american students would'nt go there?
First Date♪
Today, we talk about 'Fjirst Date'. It's very interesting theme!
In Japan, people often go to movie, aquarium, amusement park, restaurants, coffee shop...and so on. Some men treat on a date, but I don't like it. I feel it's bad for men. X-(
How about your counturies?
I went to an amusement park in my first date. First, I was very nervous, but we could enjoy and gradually became familiar. In Japan, people often ride in a ferris whell, but I 'm weak in high places. I was asked to ride it, but I refused to do.. :-(
What did you do in your first date♪? Tell me about your first date!
Inter- racial/national Relationships
I wanted to use Japanese for this topic, but I didn't know alot of words to use with it so I'll use Enlish.
But I wanted to know what other people think about inter- racial/national realtionships. In America, especially where I live (Michigan), it's very segregated. And you don't see too many people in realtionships with people outside their ethnicity. When it is done, a lot of other people treat the couple strangely and give them a hard time.
My girlfriend now is Japanese. There are some times when it's really hard for use to do some things in public, unless we want to deal with other people.
I think that it's very stupid that racism exists and still effects people today. But I was wondering what other people think about it and how is it in Japan?
Photos; trip to Turkey!!

drink☆
I heard about some alcohol drinks and the way to drink in the U.S from my English teacher and this talk was very fun! :-D I want to know more!
In Japan, there are also peculiar drinks, for example, Shotyu, tea, and so on. Most Japanese people usually drink green tea every day.
Especialy, I like cocoa very much. X-)
About a few years ago, I drank cocoa almost every day in the midnight. I also like fresh cream. Then, I couldn't sleep early and well, so for good sleep, I always drank it with fresh cream and sure enough, I got fat. :-(
After it, I stopped this habit..
What drink do you like? :-) And are there any pecliar drinks in your countury?
Drinking
Today, I studied about drinks in English class.
We talted a lot about drinks, and it was very fun;-D
Our teacher told us how American students driak alcohol with their friends whe she was a student. She said she enjoyed "body shot" ( put salt on boys' (or girls' ?) neck and rick it and drink alcohole). I was very surprised at this!! Do American students really do this?? Japanese students never do this.
I have some question for you, How many times do you drink in a week?, What's your favorite drink ( alcohole)? , What alcohole is the most popular among American students? What's your fovorite style to drink? Do you have special and interesting style to drink?
I hope you'll answer my questions:-D
Talk to you later!!
About Drinking!!!
In Japan, everyone hold partys to say good-bye this year in this season.
Many people drink the party.
But I am weak alcohol, so I can not a lot of alchol drink. If I drink, I may feel sleepy soon. :-*
What kind drinks are your favorite? I like fruite-juice.
Most favoeite is Orange-juice.
And I like tea very much. When I want to relax, I drink tea with milk and sugger. Sweet tea is very nice and It makes me calm.
Please tell me aboute your drink culture. :->
See you again!

Gesture
body language☆
some Japanese body languages are different from other counturies it.
So, if we do japanese body language in foreign counturies, it might be rude :-/
Japanese people often touch and care their hair. When some women become shy and bored, they start to finger their hair.
are there any unique body languages in your countries? :-)
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

About Halloween
In the end of every Octorber, Do you celebrate halloween, don't you?
In Japan, we don't celebrate it, but we often enjoy it as one fun event.
For example, we ate pumpkin taste sweets, or recently, some people put some decorations in thieir garden. Maybe I think it's started since Tokyo Disney Land took this halloween event over their park as an Autumn event, because we didn't have any fun events during Autumn.
But I don't know how really American people celebrate it, and why people started celebrate it.
Please let me know it!
Talk to you soon, Tomoko
my pet
My family has a cat and her name is 'Mie'.

there are some bad parts, but she gives me a hand and I like her.♪

My last name is Sato(佐藤). Sa(佐) means help and tou(藤) means a big tree in English.
Parents name their children with their wish that parents want their children to grow up like names.
In my case, my first name is Mai(真維). Ma(真) means truth and i(維) means maintenance in English, so when I unite two letters, my name means 'maintain truth'. I can know my parents' wish for me.
I would like to know meaning of your name.
