Hello everyone! This is Rhieley again. Now that the Thanksgiving holiday is over, it seems like Christmas and the New Years are coming up very fast. I have a lot of presents to buy this year. Many of my relatives have young children now that I am expected to buy presents for. I also have several friends and older relatives to buy for. This year I want to get my roommate a good present. In the past I have just given small things like candles. However, my roommate is returning to Japan at the end of this semester and I wanted to get her something nice that she will be able to use and appreciate. What are some of the best gifts that you have received?

Looking for Work

Recently I have been busy trying to find a job. I have been applying at the University for a job but I would rather work at clothing stores like Old Navy or The Gap right now. I am trying to get an internship for over the summer. Last summer I worked for Chrysler Financial, which is a part of the car company. This year, I am hoping to work for Del Sol. They have many awesome products that all change color. I think that it would be very interesting to work with them. Plus, I would hopefully get to leave the country. I was wondering, where is a popular place to work in Japan?

Thanksgiving

Popular Fashion

Hello, how are you all?
Today, we talked about fashion in this week's class.
I really want to know what do you think Japanese girls (or boys) fashion. Our teacher said Japanese girls fashion sometimes looks like prostitute, and I was really shocked to hear that.
Also, I'd appriciate if you tell me popular American fashion and popular fashion brand.
Sorry for this short blog message...
I'll write another message soon!

Fashion!!

thanksgiving

On Thursday we had Thanksgiving. I returned to my hometown to see my family since we have a few days off from classes.
A lot of people have huge dinners with a lot of people, mostly family. My family usually just has a small, relaxed dinner. Everyone eats turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and pumpkin or apple pie.
Thanksgiving, I think, is considered to be a holiday centered around eating and family. The day after Thanksgiving is called "black Friday". On black Friday women go out Christmas shopping and the men watch football games on TV.

Your First Date

Hi, everyone!
Today, I learned about very interesting topic, the first dates.
In the class, our teacher gave us a survey about "where is the best place for a first date". ( she asked American)
Accoding this survey, 81% of American would love to go to a coffee house, and 70%/a walk in the park, 65%/the local diner,.... any other answers, brunch, live music, a musium, comedy club and so on. Would you like to go those↑place for your first date, or did you go there for your first date? I know "first dates" is kind of a personal thing, but I'm curious to know about it!
Most of my class mates said they would go to see movies, but how about you?
"Going to see movies" wasn't in the survey, but do you think american students would'nt go there?

First Date♪

Hello!This is Mai.
Today, we talk about 'Fjirst Date'. It's very interesting theme!
In Japan, people often go to movie, aquarium, amusement park, restaurants, coffee shop...and so on. Some men treat on a date, but I don't like it. I feel it's bad for men. X-(
How about your counturies?
I went to an amusement park in my first date. First, I was very nervous, but we could enjoy and gradually became familiar. In Japan, people often ride in a ferris whell, but I 'm weak in high places. I was asked to ride it, but I refused to do.. :-(
What did you do in your first date♪? Tell me about your first date!

Inter- racial/national Relationships

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to use Japanese for this topic, but I didn't know alot of words to use with it so I'll use Enlish.

But I wanted to know what other people think about inter- racial/national realtionships. In America, especially where I live (Michigan), it's very segregated. And you don't see too many people in realtionships with people outside their ethnicity. When it is done, a lot of other people treat the couple strangely and give them a hard time.
My girlfriend now is Japanese. There are some times when it's really hard for use to do some things in public, unless we want to deal with other people.
I think that it's very stupid that racism exists and still effects people today. But I was wondering what other people think about it and how is it in Japan?

Photos; trip to Turkey!!

←① ↓②
↓③ ↓④

←⑤
I went to Turkey with one of my friends in the last summer vacation, so I'll show you some photos. Let me explain photos...
①and② are photos of Pamukkale.
Pamukkale is kind of hot spring but it's very
shallow. It's made of limestone so here is white and bright.
It's one of World Heritage sites, so there were many tourists. Sunset in here is the most beautiful!!( you can see in my photo②)
③ is photo of Kaimalk underground city. A long time ago, Christians built this city to be safe from Muslime people. Inside of this city was complicate like a labyrinth.
④ is photo of Cappadocia. ( also one of world Herotage sites)
There were many strange shaped rocks, and most famous shape is "mushroom shape".
These stones are not so hard, so it's easy to make holes. I saw many holes in the stones and a tour guide said the holes are used as church or house a long time ago.
Last one, ⑤ was taken in istanbul. A girl who's in this photo is of course ME!
And, the building behind me is "blue mosque". Istanbul was very interesting city, but people's manner of traffic was really bad..., so Iwas always scared when I crossed roads.
I was really enjoyed trip to Turkey, because there were a lot of beautiful sceneries and onteresting cultures. I recommend you to go there someday!!
But, you should be careful when you visit carpet shop because all sales clarks were too enegetic when they tried to sell carpet to me... they really scared me!!
Anyway, our teacher said this Blog will be end very soon....
but, I really want to continue, because I want to talk to you on this Blog.
So, if you think the same as me, let's continue this Blog.
Or you can e-mail to me personally, so if you want to have my mail address, please let me knoe that.
Talk to you soon!!

drink☆

Hello. This is Mai.
I heard about some alcohol drinks and the way to drink in the U.S from my English teacher and this talk was very fun! :-D I want to know more!
In Japan, there are also peculiar drinks, for example, Shotyu, tea, and so on. Most Japanese people usually drink green tea every day.
Especialy, I like cocoa very much. X-)
About a few years ago, I drank cocoa almost every day in the midnight. I also like fresh cream. Then, I couldn't sleep early and well, so for good sleep, I always drank it with fresh cream and sure enough, I got fat. :-(
After it, I stopped this habit..
What drink do you like? :-) And are there any pecliar drinks in your countury?

Drinking

Hi, everyone!
Today, I studied about drinks in English class.
We talted a lot about drinks, and it was very fun;-D
Our teacher told us how American students driak alcohol with their friends whe she was a student. She said she enjoyed "body shot" ( put salt on boys' (or girls' ?) neck and rick it and drink alcohole). I was very surprised at this!! Do American students really do this?? Japanese students never do this.
I have some question for you, How many times do you drink in a week?, What's your favorite drink ( alcohole)? , What alcohole is the most popular among American students? What's your fovorite style to drink? Do you have special and interesting style to drink?
I hope you'll answer my questions:-D
Talk to you later!!

Gestureについて

Hello, everyone!! I have to use Japanese for blog at least 1/4 times, so I'll I'll use Japanase this time.

body language☆

Hello.I'm Mai.
some Japanese body languages are different from other counturies it.
So, if we do japanese body language in foreign counturies, it might be rude :-/
Japanese people often touch and care their hair. When some women become shy and bored, they start to finger their hair.

are there any unique body languages in your countries? :-)

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

Hallo Ween♪
